Pilates is a popular and comprehensive workout that helps to strengthen the body safely and effectively. The principles of Pilates exercises are grounded in concentrated and precise body movements that help to center the body for more balanced muscle development and holistic health. 

Pilates is for you if you’re looking to rebuild strength after an injury, to gain more body awareness, or if you want to be consistently energized and challenged. 

You can either practice Pilates on a mat or on a Reformer. In Reformer Pilates, you’ll perform exercises on a machine that has platforms, a moving carriage, and various straps to use for a more dynamic full-body experience.

Which class is for you – Mat or Reformer Pilates?

If you are new to group and core workouts, you might like to try a mat class first to learn the basics of Pilates. Once you’ve got the lingo and your body awareness down, you can step into the world of machine-based workouts to take your Pilates classes to a new level.
